Old
Time Wood Signs is a family operated cottage industry, which began in 1986 in
the heart of the Piney Woods of East Texas. Our primary product has been
beautiful hand carved redwood signs and plaques. We have chosen to use
redwood for its beauty and durability. The natural oils present in
redwood give it a superior decay resistant quality, which means your redwood
sign will last for decades with only minimal maintenance. The tight
smooth grain structure of redwood makes it an excellent choice for achieving
the crisp, clean-cut edges required for an attractive carved sign.
Each order is designed by hand in order to achieve the most visually
pleasing signs. Consideration is
given to the wording, lettering style, size of sign, edge design and
additional desired artwork. Once
the basic layout has been drawn on the redwood blank, the sign is hand carved
using a power router to cut away the lettering and designs.
The carved areas are then painted with black paint.
The entire sign is then sanded and a clear exterior finish is applied.
Though not required, the application of an additional coat of exterior
finish on an annual basis will keep your sign looking new indefinitely.
We spend a great deal of time concentrating on details in our design
studio and working with power tools in the woodshop.
Consequently, we may not always be available to answer your phone calls
personally. We also travel and do shows so there are times when we are often
out of touch for several days. However,
your phone messages and email are important to us and we will answer them in a
timely manner. Old Time Wood Signs has a storefront in Edom, Texas, sharing space with KC Studios. Usual hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Catch us there to place a sign order or call for an appointment. We previously set up at First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas. We were located in The Original Pavilion 2 on Highway 19. First Monday takes place the weekend before the first Monday of the month on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We set up there for 15 years. |
